Funding for a cochlear implant in Sri Lanka

There are government and private funding options for cochlear implants in Sri Lanka. Systems start at LKR 4,500,000, and up to LKR 5,900,000 is available through the President's Fund, the Suraksha scheme and the WISH Foundation. We can help you navigate the funding channels and apply.

How much does a cochlear implant cost in Sri Lanka?

From LKR 4,500,000 for an entry-level system

Prices increase with more advanced features. If you have financial difficulty, book an appointment and we will try our best to provide discounts and help find funding. Obtaining a GN certificate to prove your financial need would help with the process.

The WISH Foundation Standard

The WISH Foundation funds cochlear implant systems that meet its quality standards:

  1. An implant body no thicker than 3.9 mm.
  2. At least 22 independent electrodes.
  3. An implant with a removable magnet, for a clear MRI head scan.
  4. A sound processor 38 mm or less in length with its smallest battery.
  5. A sound processor with two microphones.
  6. Current product registration with National Medicines Regulatory Authority of Sri Lanka.

Some companies in Sri Lanka sell cochlear implants that don't meet one or more of these standards.
